The purpose of this study was to quantitatively analyse the response of the left ventricular wall motion to a submaximal treadmill test in 14 normal subjects applying two-dimensional echocardiography. Echocardiograms of the left ventricle were recorded before and immediately after treadmill testing. The heart rate and blood pressure increased from 73±7 beats/min to 161±19 beats/min and from 125±10/82±21 mmHg to 165±27/79±9 mmHg, respectively.
