An ultrasonic diagnostic equipment for a high-speed three dimensional display has been developed. The equipment has a digital frame memory of 256X256 pixel. Several image processing techniques are utilized in real-time for the three dimensional display of ultrasonogram; ie smoothing, 2-level, boundary detection and hidden line extinction processings are performed. Several frames of the conventional but boundary detected B mode images are superimposed in the frame memory. When storing images into the memory, the location is shifted from an image to image. The only desired region in a whole B mode image can be displayed three dimensionally. We can obtain a three dimensional observation of the object in about 2 seconds. The developed system may be appricable for the clinical use.
